Terms of Service

By accessing or using Profresso, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Profresso. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these terms.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@profresso.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

Ownership — you retain ownership of all content you create on Profresso (profiles, shot logs, coffees, posts, comments).

Licence to us — by publishing content publicly, you grant Profresso a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, distribute, and promote that content on the platform. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

Private content — profiles and shots you mark as private are not shared with other users and are not used for any purpose other than delivering the service to you.

Community content — when you fork or build on a profile shared by another user, credit the original creator where appropriate. Profresso displays attribution automatically.

You agree not to:

• Post content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, or defamatory.
• Impersonate another user, machine manufacturer, or Profresso staff.
• Use the platform for spam, unsolicited advertising, or automated scraping.
• Attempt to circumvent access controls, rate limits, or subscription paywalls.
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or content that could harm other users or the platform.
• Use the AI assistant to generate harmful, misleading, or illegal content.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules, without prior notice for severe violations.

The Profresso AI assistant is powered by Anthropic's Claude model. It generates espresso profiles and extraction advice based on your inputs. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated profiles are suggestions, not guarantees of extraction quality.
• You are responsible for verifying that any profile is safe and appropriate for your machine.
• AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete.
• We count AI interactions against a monthly usage quota on the free plan.

Profresso offers a free tier and a Pro subscription. Pro is billed monthly or annually via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

Cancellation — you may cancel your subscription at any time. Access to Pro features continues until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time.

Refunds — we offer a 14-day refund on the first payment of a new Pro subscription. Contact billing@profresso.com to request one.

Price changes — we will notify you at least 30 days before any subscription price change.

The Profresso platform, logo, design, and proprietary software are owned by Profresso and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works of the platform without our written permission.

Profresso is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Espresso profiles shared on the platform are created by community members and are not vetted by Profresso. You use them at your own risk. Always verify that a profile is compatible with your machine before loading it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Profresso is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform — including data loss, machine damage, or lost profits — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity.

On termination, your public content may remain visible to other users unless you delete it before closing your account. Private content is deleted within 30 days of account closure.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
